VETERINARIAN

Annual Salary Range: Veterinarian I    $80, 868 to  $90,138
                                    Veterinarian II $83,352 to $98,094
                                    Veterinarian III  $87, 925 - $103,481

DUTIES: The City of Los Angeles seeks Veterinarians to provide top quality care to animals in our new and expanded shelters.  Duties include:  diagnose and give first aid treatment, including surgery as needed, to animals in the care and custody of the Department; inspect their care and treatment; assign, review, and evaluate the work of employees assisting in this work; advise on matters within the field of veterinary medicine; exercise independent medical judgment.  We are dedicated to the humane treatment of animals.  Doctor degree from an accredited veterinary school and valid California License to practice veterinary medicine required.

Veterinary Technician
Annual Salary Range: $43,242 - $53,724

DUTIES: A Veterinary Technician assists a Veterinarian in providing top quality care to animals in our new and expanded shelters.  Duties include: performing routine and sub-professional duties in the medical or surgical treatment of animals in the care and custody of the Department, administering immunizations under the direction of a licensed Veterinarian, administering emergency medical treatment to injured animals, and related work. Two years of full-time paid experience in the care of animals, at least one year of which was in assisting a licensed veterinarian in the medical examination and treatment of animals, and a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certificate or an Animal Health Technician (AHT) certificate issued by the California Board of Examiners in Veterinary Medicine required.
