New Hope for Los Angeles Animals
In 2006, the Department of Animal Services launched the New Hope Program. The program was implemented for the purpose of eliminating all obstacles that might prevent the animals most at risk of euthanasia from being redeemed into caring, dedicated, expert hands. These animals are placed on the New Hope Alert list which allows for the waiver of all adoption, spay/neuter and microchips fees. The New Hope Program allows us to partner with organizations that rely on donations and grants to carry out the work of the most dedicated and committed volunteers while maximizing our limited resources and upholding the City’s “No Kill” policy.
Of course, New Hope Partners are not restricted to saving animals only from the New Hope Alert, but it is our hope they will focus at least some of their attention and resources to these animals first. These are real rescues in the truest sense of the word!
Program Highlights
New Hope Partners receive 24/7 access to all Los Angeles Animal Care and Control Facilities.
Each facility has a designated New Hope Coordinator trained to provide the very best customer service to our New Hope Partners.
New Hope Partners are able to contact each facility via special "hot lines" to let the respective New Hope Coordinator know if they can help an animal. The New Hope Coordinator is able to immediately remove the animal(s) from the New Hope Alert and then work with the partner to place the animal as quickly as possible.
When necessary, and as resources are available, transportation of the animal may be provided for the New Hope Partners having difficulty making these arrangements for themselves.
Waiver of all adoption, microchip fees for New Hope Partners adopting from the New Hope Alert.
